Urunga War Memorial Park is dedicated to those who served in the Second World War. The park features the Urunga Second World War Memorial wall, which includes a dedication plaque for the park.
In early July 1948 a small reserve was offered for a memorial to honour to those who had served in the Second World War. The proposed memorial would incorporate a designed layout, a tree planting project with memorial gates and an archway to be added later (Daily Examiner, 5 July 1948). A War Memorial Committee was established to raise funds for the project.
Later that year, the Coffs Harbour Advocate, 2 November 1948, reported that the RSL was combining with the Urunga Park Committee to erect Memorial Club Rooms in the new park. It was proposed that a tree be planted to commemorate the names of each man and woman from the Urunga District who had served in the Second World War. A plaque was to be attached to each tree.
By the end of November 1948 almost £150 had been donated to the project. A sub-committee had prepared a report for fencing the area. Several trees had been planted and funds were being raised for the cleaning and re-gilding of the existing monument, together with the addition of the names of the fallen (Daily Examiner, 26 November 1948).
