Wounded in leg at Gallipoli 22 July 1915. Leg subsequently amputated and discharged from AIF 1 January 1917. Became secretary of the NSW Returned Soldier and Sailor Committee and first President of the Limbless and Maimed Soldiers Association. Was an active recruiting officer and campaigned for a 'yes' vote in the conscription referendums. Died suddenly in 1923, aged 43. Last known address: Killeen Street
