Description / Background

The metal memorial bench is located north of the Broke War Memorial in the Stewart McTaggart Park, Broke. The back of the seat is decorated with a cut out emblem of the Australian Army, with the phrase 'Lest We Forget' written in cut out lettering on the seat. On the base at each side of the bench is a silhouette of an Australian soldier with reversed arms standing before three Flanders poppies and three simple Latin Crosses. The bench is mounted on a concrete slab into which a small metal plaque is fixed with details of the donors and a statement of remembrance.

The bench was donated by A R Excavations and the Broke Rural Fire Service which has its shed within the Stewart McTaggart Park. The seat was created in memory of all servicemen and women in the past, present and future.

The bench was dedicated on Anzac Day, 25 April 2023.
