It was established in honour of Troopers Edward Sams and Joseph Herbert Starr who died while serving in the South African War (Boer War). It is located inside the Millthorpe School of Arts building. Inscription This tablet was erected by the residents of Millthorpe to the memory of Trooper Edward Sams No. 1128 C Squadron 3rd Regiment N.S.Wales Mounted Rifles and Trooper Joseph Herbert Starr No. 3521 3rd Corps N.S.Wales Mounted Infantry who died fighting for their country in the South African War of 1899-1902.
