Fort Street High School Second World War Honour Roll Middle Image Image 0 / 0 - Prev Next Description / Background This memorial is a large timber honour roll, featuring a decorative stepped pediment. It is inscribed with the names of 103 members of the Fort Street High School community who died during the Second World War. The names are expertly printed in gold on five timber panels, which have been attached to the centre of the board. The panels are made of a slightly darker timber and have been used with the grain running vertically. This provides a subtle but pleasing contrast with the overall board, and adds visual interest. The memorial also includes a ribbon banner at the top of the board, painted in two shades of blue, highlighting the words 'Second World War'. The roll is mounted on a wall inside the school's Memorial Hall. It is adjacent to the Fort Street High School Great War Honour Roll and is accompanied by an Australian Blue Ensign. Also in the hall is the Fort Street High School Korean War and Post-Korean War Conflicts and Peacekeeping Memorial. Access to view the memorials at the school is by appointment/tour only.
