Description / Background

This memorial gateway is located at the entrance to Grafton Memorial Park. It is built in the form of a shelter, with brick walls on the left and right sides, supporting a tiled roof. Set within each wall is an arched 'window'. In place of glass, each window is filled with a wrought iron grill, which has been painted white. One grill bears the date '1914' and the other says '1918'. Inside the shelter, on either side of the grills, are brass plaques with the names of men from Grafton who served in the First World War. The gates, which are positioned across the front of the shelter, are also made from wrought iron and bear the words 'Memorial Park 1933', in white painted lettering.

The gateway is directly in front of the Grafton Remembrance Walk.
