Description / Background

This memorial walkway is marked by two groups of brick pillars, situated at either end of a concrete footpath. A thick vine grows over the top of each set, forming a 'roof' over them. Park benches are positioned under the vines, to allow for rest and reflection within the space.

On the front faces of the first group of pillars are two brass plaques, one inscribed with 'Remembrance Walk', the other with The Ode. At the rear of the second group of pillars are brass plaques for Australia's National Servicemen and ex-servicewomen.

Attached to the insides of the all of the pillars are small brass plaques, dedicated to individual returned service personnel who either died during their service or passed away since returing home. These plaques were purchased by the veteran's family, through the local RSL sub-Branch and council. Each has a small receptable to hold a poppy and these poppies are replaced by the local RSL prior to the Anzac Day service.

The walkway is located directly behind the Grafton Memorial Park Gates, and leads to the Grafton Cenotaph.
