Description / Background

This memorial avenue is located along Forbes Street in Grenfell, NSW, between Camp Street (Mid Western Highway) and Dagmar (Rose) Street. The trees have been planted on the raised landscape island, which separates the two carriageways. They are Western Australian red-flowering gums (Corymbia ficifolia). 

The avenue was established by the Grenfell RSL sub-Branch in 1948 to honour those who fell in the Second World War. A brass dedication plaque is located at each end of the island, attached to the top of a granite boulder using concrete. Both plaques bear the same inscription, as shown below.
