Description / Background

The Kenthurst and Annangrove First World War Roll of Honor is a stained timber board, approximately 4.5 feet wide by 4 feet high. It lists the names of 49 locals who served in the war. Their names are neatly printed on the board in gold lettering. Of the 49, seven died during active service and 10 of the veterans can not be positively identified from the local or surrounding area.

The roll was unveiled during a concert at the Kenthurst School of Arts on 23 September 1916 by Mr Bruntnell (The Cumberland Argus and Fruitgrowers Advocate, 30 September 1916).

The School of Arts hall was built in 1889. It is now known as the Kenthurst Literary Institute. Access to the view the roll inside the hall is by appointment/tour.
