Description / Background

The memorial is a bronze honour roll mounted on a shaped timber board dedicated to six members of the Lismore Temperance Masonic Lodge who served in the First World War.

The honour roll features a round shaped pediment with a decorative floral arch and art nouveau styled columns. The Masonic emblem of the square and compass features on a brass plaque in the centre at the top of the board. The dedication is inscribed on a brass plate attached to the centre of the bronze honour roll with the individual names of the lodge members who served inscribed on small brass scrolls attached to the timber board at the bottom of the honour roll.

The Lismore Temperance Masonic Lodge was established by October 1907. The Northern Star, 13 September 1919, published an account of the honour roll unveiling by the Very Worthy Brother J D McIntyre, which took place at the lodge on 11 September 1919 after the installation of new officers. The report also included a list of names inscribed on the memorial.

The bronze honour roll was produced by the Wunderlich Company of Sydney, who manufactured metal decorative wall and ceiling panels. The company created many bronze honour rolls for the First and Second World Wars.
