Description / Background

The Lockhart and District Second World War Honour roll is large timber board, featuring four turned columns and a curved pediment. Attached to the top of the board is a bronze emblem, which represents the three service branches of the Australian Defence Force. It includes the Rising Sun badge for the Australian Army, a pair of wings for the Royal Australian Air Force, and an anchor for the Royal Australian Navy.

The board lists the names of 446 veterans from Lockhart and district who served in the war. Names marked with an asterisk made the supreme sacrifice. The names are printed in gold, over nine columns, across three panels. The list is in alphabetical order, except for the last three names.

The memorial is located inside Lockhart Memorial Hall and access to view it is by appointment/tour.
