A guard of honour was provided by a local boy scouts and school children sang patriotic songs. Following the performances, Chairman Mr J W Hewetson opened proceedings. He mentioned the completion of the roll had been delayed as there was difficulty identifying enlistees from the district, and he acknowledged Miss Annie Pittendrigh for this work. The unveiling itself was performed by Colonel Bruxner, who had also opened the hall. The memorial is available for viewing when the hall is open for social occasions.
