Marrickville PCYC War Memorial Middle Image Image Image Image Image 0 / 0 - Prev Next Description / Background This war memorial consists of a concrete-block wall, two concrete plinths, and three flagpoles. These elements are arranged within a semi-circular lawn area next to the carpark of the Marrickville Police-Citizens Youth Club (PCYC). Attached to the front face of the wall are the bronze emblems of the Royal Australian Navy, Australian Army, and Royal Australian Air Force. The plinths each hold a metal plaque, inscribed with details of the dedication and unveilings. The memorial was originally a gate for the Marrickville Bowling Club. It was dedicated on 5 December 1959. The additional elements were dedicated on 18 February 2004. Do you know more about the history of this memorial? Officially opened by Councillor Barry Cotter, Mayor of Marrickville on 18th February 2004.
