Description / Background

This large scale Roll of Honour was constructed to the design of the department. It consists of six cast copper panels, framed in Queensland Maple. In raised letters on the panels are the names of 315 members of the NSW Fire Brigades Service who served in the Great War. The panels were constructed using the electrolytic process, at the Government Printing Office. It is believed to be the first occasion in which the process had been employed for work of this nature. The woodwork was executed by Messrs Dorhauer & Sons. The Rising Sun was donated by Messrs T. Green & Coy. According to the Board of Fire Commissioners Minutes from 2 May 1923, the cost of the Roll was f194.

The roll is located in Fire and Rescue NSW City of Sydney Fire Station.
