Description / Background

The memorial is an illuminated roll of honour, presented in a timber frame. The honour roll includes decorative banners scrolled across the top with the crossed flags of Australia and the Union Jack, and the names of 19 servicemen listed in two columns within an illustrated scroll.

The honour roll was unveiled on 18 June 1916 at a service conducted by Reverend G M Torbett MA, Moderator of the Presbyterian Church. The unveiling was performed by Mrs Dennis, who had four sons at the front, after which the Minister read the names of the young men connected with the congregation who had enlisted (The Maitland Weekly Mercury, 1 July 1916).
