St Bartholomew's Anglican Church Second World War Honour Roll, Alstonville Middle Image Image 0 / 0 - Prev Next Description / Background This honour roll is for members of St Bartholomew's Church in Alstonville who served in the Second World War. It is a simple, polished timber board, divided into two matching panels. Each panel has a Gothic-shaped top with a carved trefoil in the centre, representing the Holy Trinity. The panels contain the names of 55 veterans, expertly printed in gold. Most of the list is in alphabetical order, except the last five names on the right-hand side panel, indicating they were added after the roll was finished. The memorial was unveiled on Monday, 23 April 1951 as part of Anzac Day commemorations at the church. The service was officiated by Ven. Archdeacon W. Burvill of Ballina. At the time, the roll listed 46 servicemen and 5 servicewomen—their names all being contributed by the congregation (Northern Star, 19 April 1951). Access to the memorial is restricted to the opening hours of the church. Also on site is the St Bartholomew's Anglican Church First World War Roll of Honour, Alstonville, which has a similar appearance.
