Those who were killed in action in the First World War have a red Maltese Cross next to their names. At the top of the board is a large pediment with a Latin Cross in the centre. The honour board is divided into five panels by carved columns with a carved wreath above the two central columns. The memorial was unveiled and dedicated on 22 April 1917 by the Bishop of Bathurst, Dr Long. The roll of honour contained the names of 90 Anglicans of the Parkes Parish who had gone to the front. The board was made of solid oak and was described as handsomely carved, reflecting the skill and workmanship of Mr S F Green, with the names artistically painted in gold by Messrs Bigelow Bros (Western Champion, 26 April 1917). The Western Champion, 23 May 1918 reported that a necessary extension to the honour roll, to allow further names to be added, was to be undertaken in accordance with the design and specifications prepared by Mr Green.
