St Thomas' Anglican Church Great War Honour Roll, Port Macquarie Middle Image 0 / 0 - Prev Next Description / Background This war memorial is a Gothic-shaped white marble honour roll, set on a black marble background. The honour roll features a decorative ivy leaf motif at the top and alphabetically lists the names of 46 members of St Thomas' Anglican Church parish who served in the First World War. The memorial is located inside St Thomas' Anglican Church in Port Macquarie. The church is part of the St Thomas The Apostle Anglican complex, which is a local heritage site. The honour roll was unveiled at St Thomas' on 15 April 1928, at a celebration for the church's centenary. As part of the service two flags covered the newly erected marble roll bearing the names of the men of the parish who served in the Great War. The memorial was unveiled by Mesdames A E Poutney and W Cuttriss, and dedicated by His Lordship Bishop Ashton. The Port Macquarie News and Hastings River Advocate, 21 April 1928, provided a detailed account of the event and listed all the names on the honour roll.
