Tamworth Ex-Services Last Post Memorial Middle Image Image Image Image Image 0 / 0 - Prev Next Description / Background This war memorial garden is set within the larger Lincoln Grove Memorial Gardens and Crematorium in Tamworth, NSW. The focal point of the area is a large bushrock bearing six bronze plaques. On the front of the rock is a plaque reading 'Ex-Services Last Post Memorial' and another in the shape of a bugle. On the back are three emblem plaques, one each for the three service branches of the Australian Defence Force, and a fourth plaque reading 'Lest we forget'. Standing behind the bushrock is a flagpole and two sentry pines. On either side are garden beds, containing low concrete plinths, which have numerous plaques for individual veterans attached. These plaques have been dedicated by family members after the veteran's death. The wider garden area includes sections of lawn, rosemary bushes, shrubs, and shade trees. Two paved walkways lead through the grass to the bushrock. In the north-eastern corner of the garden is a Lone Pine. The bushrock was sourced from Moonbi, north of Tamworth. It was designed by stonemason Brett Adams of the Lincoln Grove Memorial Gardens. Read about the tradition of the Last Post bugle call on the Australian War Memorial website.
