Urunga Public School First World War Roll of Honor Middle Image 0 / 0 - Prev Next Description / Background The Urunga Public School First World War Roll of Honor is a timber board, listing the names of those from the school community who served in the war. Their names are printed in gold across two panels that are framed by simple timber arches. The board has a classically designed pediment at the top and decorative moulding. The inscription includes the start year of 1914 of the war, but does not include the end year, indicating that the roll was created during the war. This is supported by the order of the list, as most names are written in alphabetical order but those at the end were added as they enlisted. The memorial was unveiled at the Urunga Public School in March 1918. The Sydney Mail, 3 April 1918 published a short account of the unveiling as well as publishing a photograph of the roll. It was unveiled by Mrs E.J. Dedman, whose son was the first local lad to fall. The roll was unveiled at the school but is now located in the Urunga Museum.
