The memorial is an ornately decorated granite pillar, surmounted by a carved Crown and mounted on three steps. It is inscribed with a roll of honour for the First World War on the sides of the pillar, the memorial stone of which was unveiled by Dr Earle MP in September 1922. An honour roll for the Second World War was added later and unveiled on 25 April 1949. A further plaque for a veteran from the Vietnam War has also been added over time.
A public meeting was held on 10 September 1920 to consider the erection of a memorial dedicated to World War One Urunga soldiers. Designs were submitted and it was decided to select the tender of Andrew Bros. of Sydney. The monument was 10 feet six inches tall and 7 feet six inches square. On each side are four polished granite sides with the inscription of names. The memorial was renovated and cleaned in April 1949. Four names of those who fell in World War Two were inscribed.
