Wagga Wagga Korea Memorial Middle Image Image 0 / 0 - Prev Next Description / Background The bushrock memorial commemorates 43 Korean War veterans who remain missing from the battlefields of North Korea. Two dedication plaques honour the missing service personnel, the first plaque with a simple Latin Cross was developed by the Korean War Veterans Association. The second plaque was created following a community project in 2011 between the Australian Funeral Directors Association and the Korean War Veterans Association. The project identified thirteen plaques to be supported by Funeral Homes in various townships. The first plaque in the project was dedicated in Wollongong in December 2011, with other plaques planned for 2012 in commemoration of the 60th anniversary of the ending of the Korean War. The Wagga Wagga plaque was sponsored by John Dance and Son and was unveiled on 20 February 2012. The dedication ceremony included the local RSL sub-Branch, Korean War veterans and the sponsoring Funeral Directors.
