A memorial sports ground featuring a gate constructed of two brick pillars, joined by a metal gate and arch. The pillars have several plaques attached. 

The sports ground is located opposite the site of the former Duri Railway Station.

From the Northern Daily Leader, 26 April 1954, 'Duri War Memorial Service'

At a function held on Anzac Day 1954, the memorial gates at the Duri Memorial Sportsground were opened and the memorial with plaques bearing the names of those who served in the two World Wars and the Korean War. The president of the Duri Progress Association P.J. Page officially opened the gates. The past President of the Tamworth RSL Dr G. Archbold unveiled the honour rolls.

The government had given 100 pounds to the Progress Association to purchase the ground and the Patriotic Trust provided a further 100 pounds to erect the gate and the commemorative plaques. The Peel Shire provided the fencing of the ground and improved an area for sports.

In loving memory of FRANK RIXON killed in action 7th May 1945 aged 22 years. 

"He is not dead that liveth."
