Description / Background

This bronze memorial plaque is attached to the front wall of the Tamworth War Memorial Hall. It is dedicated to those who served in the Second World War. It features the logo of the 'Australia Remembers: 1945-95' campaign, which depicts a returning soldier reuniting with his family.

The campaign was developed by the Australian Government to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the end of the Second World War in 1995. Various commemorative events were held throughout Australia and many plaques like this one were commissioned and installed.
