Grevillia First and Second World Wars Honour Roll Middle Image 0 / 0 - Prev Next Description / Background The war memorial is a simply designed polished timber honour roll for those from Grevillia who served in the First and Second World Wars. Located in the Grevillia Hall, it has alphabetical lists of males and females printed in gold who served in the two conflicts. This organisation of the lists indicate they were compiled after the wars had ended. The roll was unveiled in the Grevillia Hall. Grevillia was named by early settlers after the silky oak trees (Grevillea robusta) in the area. The village is located 30 kilometres north of Kyogle. The Northern Star, 23 July 1936 published a detailed history of small scale farming in the area including dairying. Of particular importance was the timber industry, which was a large employer in the district. A First World War honour roll was created and listed employers of the Munro and Lever sawmill. This monument is now located in the Kyogle Historical Museum.
