Enlisted August 1915 aged 22 years. Described himself as a 'refreshment professional' and ran 'Woods Original American Bar' at 241 Darling Street (now Blue Ginger). In France from March 1916. Wounded in action (gun shot wound to chest) in August 1916. Back in France by January 1917, invalided out with influenza April 1917. Back in the field by May 1917. Killed at Strazeere (age 26). Last known address: 241 Darling Street
