Had previously served as Acting Lieutenant in the Engineers for four years during the Boer War. A sports journalist, he was chief editor of the Sydney Sportsman (now The Sportsman) writing under the pen name 'Fandango'. Enlisted 1916. Died following a serious gun shot wound to the thigh which broke the bone. Left a wife and three children. Age 42. Last known address: Lisgar' Darling Street (i.e. the house next door to St Mary's)
