El Alamein Memorial Fountain Middle Image Image Image Image Image 0 / 0 - Prev Next Description / Background This memorial is an impressive, sculptural water fountain, consisting of three tiered pools and dandelion shaped fountain at the top. It is located at the entrance to Fitzroy Gardens, on the corner of Darlingurst Road and Macleay Street in Potts Point, NSW. The fountain was designed by Australian architect, Bob Woodward, and was dedicated on 11 November 1961. Inscription The El Alamein Memorial Fountain This fountain was erected in commemoration of the deeds of the ninth division, Australian Imperial Forces in World War II by the council of the City of Sydney and placed in operation by the right honourable the Lord Mayor of Sydney Alderman H.
