Goulburn District Railway Employees 1914-1919 Honor Roll Middle Image Image Image Image Image Image Image Image Image 0 / 0 - Prev Next Description / Background This large white marble honor roll is set into the wall of Platform 1 of the original railway station building at Goulburn. Veterans' names are engraved into the marble and blackened. The roll has stone pillars on either side and a semi-circular carved top. The area at the top is ornately decorated with carvings, including a laurel wreath and leaves around the perimeter. Additional information by Sydney Trains: The honor roll contains the names of Goulburn railway employees who served in the First World War inscribed in four columns. It was unveiled by Railway Commissioner James Fraser on 30 July 1919. This roll is adjacent to a smaller plaque titled 'NSW Railways and Tramways Ambulance Corps Goodhew Cup Southern District Competition' from 1928-1947. The monument lies within the heritage listing boundary of the Goulburn Railway Station Group and is a striking architectural feature and highly visible on the platform.
