A flagpole stands behind the 'Stone of Remembrance', a large white painted rock with the words 'Lest we forget' painted on its surface in black. The memorial has numerous bronze plaques in proximity and a Lone Pine was planted at the service. There were 340 Australians killed during the Korean War, and a plaque lists 43 veterans who are classified as ‘Missing in action’ (MIA) presumed dead and remain on the battle fields of Korea due to North Korea isolation policy. This memorial replaces the demolished Baulkham Hills Shire Memorial previously located in Arthur Whitling Park at the corner of Old Northern Road and McMullen Avenue in Castle Hill, NSW. It was demolished to allow for the construction of the Castle Hill North West metro station. More information on the Korean War can be found on the Australian War Memorial website.
