Description / Background

The Excelsior Public School ‘Place of Remembrance' war memorial was constructed and opened in Aprill 2024. The memorial consists of a central sandstone plinth on top of which is a special bronze plaque identifying the space. The plinth is surrounded by a small garden and a larger paved area that is edged with a sandstone block wall. Attached to the wall are three bronze plaques dedicated to those who served in the Royal Australian Air Force, Royal Australian Army, and the Royal Australian Navy. Also on site are three flag poles and a rosemary garden bed.

The memorial is situated inside the school grounds and therefore permission to access the area is required.
