Description / Background

A triangular prism of granite with grey/black colouring, sitting on a rectangular base. Gold inscriptions are on the base and on two sides of the triangular pillar. Below these are carved illustrations of four service men and women. Attached to the base are the National Service and Combined Forces Association emblem and two small plaques.

Between 1951 and 1972 Leeton & district men were conscripted into National Service in the Australian Navy - Army - Airforce. These Men served their country well in times of war and peace. Australia as a nation is indebted to its national servicemen and citizen soldiers who were the core of the defence forces.

Pillar - right face

Commemorating the men and women of Leeton and district who have served this great nation in all arms of the military during times of conflict and peace and have not seen active service during their defence force career. Navy - Army - Airforce - Milita - CMF - Naval Reserve Army Reserve - Airforce Reserve - Nurses.

Pillar - base

Let us remember all who were called by their nation to serve Australia with pride and dedication Each one is a part of our heritage. We remember them all.

The Leeton Branch of the National Servicemen's Association of Australia (NSW Branch) was established on 6.4.1998 Affiliation with the National Service and Combined Forces Associations of Australia occurred on 26.5.1999
