Description / Background

This memorial features an ampitheatre of 8m radius cut into an embankment. It has a paved floor with central altar of polished granite featuring the St George cross. Two granite sentinal scupltures are at each end of the area. One depicts an old digger disappearing and the other is a young Afghanistan digger emerging.

Four smaller pillars are decorated with the names and badges of the Army, Navy, Royal Australian Air Force and Women's Services.

Penshurst War Memorial

This plaque was unveiled by Lieutenant Colonel W. Young Commanding Officer, 23 Field Regiment, RAA 11th November 2011 at 11am on the occasion of the official opening and dedication of the memorial.

In honour of all those who gave their lives and those who served in all wars, conflicts and peacekeeping operations. 

The memorial was erected by the Penshurst RSL Sub-Branch with the support of all members.
