St Joseph's Catholic Church First and Second World Wars Memorial Tower, Cessnock Middle Image Image Image Image 0 / 0 - Prev Next Description / Background St Joseph's Catholic Church in Cessnock is a large brick building, dominated by a tall square tower. The tower has narrow, rectangular, shuttered windows and is surmounted by a metal cross. A red-granite tablet is set into the lower part of its eastern wall, and is inscribed with the dedication. The church was opened on 24 October 1954, with the completed tower in place. Inside the building is the St Joseph's Catholic Church First and Second World Wars Memorial Foyer. Inscription Tablet This tower is erected to the honour and glory of God and to the memory of the men who lost their lives in the mines of the Cessnock area and in World Wars I & II.
