Able Seaman Allan Richard Maunsell Memorial Chair Middle Image 0 / 0 - Prev Next Description / Background Able Seaman Allan Richard Maunsell was 21 years old when he died on 21 October 1944, as a result of the bombing of HMAS Australia by the Japanese. A memorial chair was gifted to St Paul's Anglican Church in Bankstown in his honour. A plaque is attached to the chair bearing the dedication. Maunsell is one of a number of ex-servicemen who have a war memorial onsite. Inscription Plaque To the glory of God and in cherished memory of Allan Richard Maunsell. A.B.. R.A.N. who succumbed to injuries received in enemy action on H.M.A.S. Australia on 21st October, 1944. A scholar, Sunday School teacher and Communicant of this church.
