Description / Background

This memorial is a solid timber roll of honour for the First World War. It features two recessed panels and the inscription and names are in gold script. A gold diamond denotes those who were killed in action.

The origins of this roll are unknown. It is unclear if it lists those who lived in the Burrinjuck Dam district or those who worked on the dam scheme. However, it may have been unveiled or displayed at the Burrinjuck Hall, where welcome home functions for returned soldiers took place. One such function was held for Private Angus McDonald, who is listed on the roll, in late July-early August 1918. The event was described in detail in the Yass Evening Tribune on 8 August.

The memorial is located in the WaterNSW site office and is not accessible to the public.
