Description / Background

The memorial is a stately timber honour roll, for those who served in the First World War. On each side of the board is a square column, which creates a solid border to the piece. At the top of the board is a timber wreath, inscribed with the phrase 'In Honour Of'.

The list of names is printed in gold in the centre of the board, across three columns. The left and right columns contain the names of enlistees and the centre column lists those who died.

After two failed attempts due to wet weather, the roll was unveiled at the Comboyne Methodist Church on Wednesday, 3 March 1920. Reverend H.L. Redman acted as chairman and Mrs Bruten and Mrs R. Jones, both of whom had sons listed on the roll, performed the unveiling. The event was reported on by the Wingham Chronicle and Manning River Observer on 5 March.

The church is now known as Comboyne Community Church and access to the roll is restricted to its opening hours.
