Dunoon Circuit Methodist Church First World War Roll of Honor Middle Image Image Image 0 / 0 - Prev Next Description / Background The memorial is a simply designed polished cedar roll of honor. At the top of the board is a curved section featuring a small timber carving resembling a wreath with ribbons. The main section of the board is decorated with a painting of the Australian and British flags, flanking the first Commonwealth Coat of Arms. The list of names appears below, painted in gold across two columns. The roll was made by Brown and Jolly, established furniture manufacturers of Lismore who made a number of honour rolls in the area. It was unveiled at Dunoon Methodist Church on Sunday, 2 January. At the time, it listed the names of 16 men who had enlisted from the district (Northern Star, 6 January 1916). Two weeks later, on 18 January, the Northern Star reported that the roll was on view in Brown and Jolly's window and included the names inscribed at the time. Further names were added following the unveiling. The roll was moved to St Matthews's Anglican Church in Dunoon for safekeeping, following the closure of the Methodist Church. Access to the memorial is restricted by the opening hours of the church. Information on the transfer of the roll to St Matthew's has been provided courtesy of the Anglican Parish of Lismore.
