Holy Trinity Anglican Church First World War Honour Roll, Orange Middle Image Image Image Image 0 / 0 - Prev Next Description / Background The memorial is a large polished timber honour roll made of Queensland maple located within the Holy Trinity Anglican Church Great War Memorial Tower. The honour roll contains the names of over 200 men and women of the Parish who enlisted in the First World War. The timber memorial is divided into three panels with supporting shelves across the top and bottom. Each panel is framed by carved columns and contains veteran names listed alphabetically in gold lettering across two columns. After the end of the First World War the congregation of Holy Trinity wanted to create a memorial and honour roll in the central southern porch at the main entrance to the church. Construction of the Memorial Tower commenced in February 1925, was completed by the end of the year, and was consecrated on 17 January 1926. Nine months later, on 20 January 1926, the honour board was unveiled at the Memorial Tower by Field-Marshall Viscount Allenby. Hundreds of people attended the unveiling ceremony together with dignitaries including the Mayor, Dr Colvin, Canon Taylor, and several other senior clergymen, with the large congregation flowing out of the church into the main thoroughfare (The Sydney Morning Herald, 21 January 1926). The honour roll was constructed by Messrs A S Low and Co of Bathurst and Orange (The Sydney Morning Herald, 27 January 1926).
