The memorial is an upright granite bushrock faced with a plaque located in Lismore's Commemorative Park. The plaque bears a dedication to the men and women of Lismore and District who died in service during the Second World War.

The memorial was established as part of the 'Australia Remembers' commemorative program that was developed by the Australian Government to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the end of the war in 1995.
