Description / Background

Anzac Park in Nambucca Heads is a small recreational park, located on the banks of the Nambucca River. It includes picnic tables, benches, a covered barbeque area, and mature palm trees.

The park was established by Nambucca Heads Lions Club as a memorial to those who served in the First World War. It was officially opened on 8 December 2001. Details of the opening are recorded on a plaque attached to a large bushrock within the park.

In 2017, the club constructed a memorial jetty adjacent to the park. The project was part of the Centenary of Anzac commemorations. It was officially opened on 31 March 2017. An information board was also erected alongside the jetty and a bushrock with a plaque recording the opening is positioned on the shore.

The jetty was designed by Nambucca Shire Council, who also provided $2,000 towards costs. A further $7,000 was donated by the Nambucca RSL Club. Additional funding was also received from the NSW Government (Guardian News, 22 March 2017).
