This memorial at Orange Cemetery consists of three flagpoles, erected in a line, with a memorial wall positioned at the base. The wall is faced with black granite tablets, which bear an honour roll of names in gold lettering.
The memorial was created by the City of Orange RSL sub-Branch, who previously identified 108 First World War soldiers and one First World War nurse in unmarked graves. A project to put a cross on most of these graves was undertaken, and a commemorative service was conducted on 2 November 2022.
There were a number of First World War veterans that were in the Old Catholic Section of the cemetery and their burial location was not able to be identified. There were two who were awarded Commonwealth War Graves, however as they are co-buried with another person, their grave was not able to be marked. The nurse is buried in her family crypt, which does not list her name.
In order to commemorate these service men and women, the sub-Branch held a memorial service at the cemetery on 3 October 2023 and had the memorial wall installed behind the new flagpoles. The memorial has been consecrated and dedicated to those First World War veterans whose final resting place in the cemetery is unmarked.
