Description / Background

This memorial is a rectangular metal plaque attached to the bottom edge of the Leadville First and Second World Wars Honour Roll located in the Leadville Memorial Hall. The plaque was presented by Mr and Mrs W. Abbott in memory of their son Private Adolphus Felix (Bo) Abbott who was killed in action in Bougainville, on 3 December 1944. 

Bo Abbott was born in Leadville on 7 July 1921 where he enlisted on 3 December 1941. He was serving in Bougainville in the Pacific as a Private with the 9th Australian Infantry Battalion when he killed in action. He is also listed on the Honour Roll at Dunedoo.  

The plaque is one of three attached to the timber honour roll. The others plaques are dedicated to Flight Lieutenant Barrington Armitage Knyvett DFC who died on 2 January 1944 in England and Driver John Leslie Bowman who was killed in action in Singapore on 12 February 1942.

Presented by Mr & Mrs W. Abbott in loving memory of their dear son Adolphus Felix (Bo) Abbott killed in action in Bougainville 3rd. Dec. 1944.
