St Paul's Presbyterian Church Great War Honour Roll, Walcha Middle Image 0 / 0 - Prev Next Description / Background This stately marble tablet is an honour roll for those who were killed in action in the First World War. It is a classically designed piece, made of Sicilian marble. The roll portion itself is crafted of white marble in the shape of an ancient temple, with two columns supporting a traditional pediment. It is attached to a black marble backing panel. The memorial was created in memory of the 12 deceased soldiers of the Walcha Presbyterian Charge. It was unveiled at St Paul's Presbyterian Church in Walcha, NSW, on 21 December 1919 in front of a large crowd. The ceremony was reported in the Daily Observer on 31 December. The Reverend James Marshall conducted the service and Mrs Kitcher of Glen Morrison, who lost three sons in the conflict, unveiled the tablet. Also unveiled on the day was a timber honour roll for enlistees. The memorial is available for viewing when the church is open.
