St Philip’s Anglican Church Auburn First World War Honour Roll

The memorial is a large, white marble tablet, set within a decorative stone frame. The frame features carved columns and raised lettering, identifiying the name of the church and the dedication. Delicate carvings of flowers and leaves also adorn the roll. The tablet is inscribed with the names of 101 men and one woman, Nurse A H Wood, from the parish who served in the First World War. They are listed across five columns and blackened. Twenty-two of those listed did not return.

The roll is positioned on the eastern wall inside St Philip's Anglican Church in Auburn, NSW. The church was established in 1885. Access to the memorial is restricted to the opening hours of the church.

Of these casualities, only E G Beasley* and C E Page died at Gallipoli, Turkey.  

The identity of H Bowman, who is marked on the roll as having died in the war, is not known.

• The spelling of 'Mortiboys' is incorrect for the soldier listed with this surname. The correct spelling is Mortiboy.
