Collingullie Soldiers Memorial Hall

The memorial is a large Soldiers Memorial Hall, with internal stage and kitchen areas. It is made of timber and has a high gabled galvanised iron roof. It has a central timber entrance door and other entrances on either side of the main doorway. The central section of the hall has extensions on each side.

The foundation meeting to consider construction of the new hall was held on 21 August 1943. A large number of district residents attended and a unanimous decision was made to build the "Collingullie Soldiers' Hall". At the meeting office bearers and a committee were elected under President Mr A A Rudd (Daily Advertiser (Wagga Wagga), 24 August 1943). The committee's Honorary Secretary, S A Meyers, placed an advertisement in the Daily Advertiser (Wagga Wagga), 7 September 1943 announcing a public meeting on 11 September 1943 to elect trustees for the proposed hall. Later editions of the Daily Advertiser published lists of individual donations, and fundraising continued for four years including a plain and fancy dress dance on New Years' Eve in 1943, a gymkhana with athletics and novelty sports at Easter 1944 and a dance held on 20 April 1945.

On 1 May 1947, the Daily Advertiser reported that Collingullie was at last to have a hall, with building operations likely to begin within a few weeks. The article outlined developments since the original decision to build the hall, and the purchase of a dismantled hall from Koyuna. A working bee was held to collect the disassembled building, which had been relocated to Wagga Wagga, and nine trucks and a tractor removed the material to Collingullie in one convoy. 

The hall was officially opened by the Mayor of Wagga Wagga, Alderman L Barrand, at an Opening Ball on 11 August 1948. About 400 dancers from the district attended the event and celebrations continued until 3am (Daily Advertiser (Wagga Wagga), 12 August 1948). Community working bees had completed the erection of the hall following work by a contractor.

The hall contains the Collingullie and District Second World War Honour Roll and Yarragundry Second World War Roll of Honor, which can be viewed when the hall is open for public functions.
