Casino Drill Hall War Memorial Middle Image Image Image Image 0 / 0 - Prev Next Description / Background The Casino Drill Hall War Memorial consists of three key elements. The focal point is a black granite monument made up of three sections, each standing 180cm high. Each section is etched with scenes from Australia's early military history and the emblems of the Royal Australian Navy, the Australian Commonwealth Military Forces, and the Royal Australian Air Force. Leading up to the monument is a memorial walkway, lined with garden beds. The walkway continues around the monument on its left- and right-hand sides, where the concrete paths descend via two flights of stairs. The stairs run along both sides of the third element, the pool of remembrance. The pool is a cascading water feature, running from the back of the monument down to the roadway. The walkway then continues across the road to a children's playground and viewing platform, which overlooks the Richmond River. Inscription Monument Lest We Forget Dedicated to the service and sacrifice of the brave men and women of Australia in the defence and safety of our nation - in the past, present and future.
