1939–1945

The Brigade and its supporting units first assembled here at Ingleburn Camp in November 1939 soon after the outbreak of World War II. The Brigade served with great distinction throughout the war in Libya., Greece. Crete. Syria. Papua and New Guinea. Battle Honours Libya 1940–41 Bardia. Capture of Tobruk. Derna Greece 1941 Mount Olympus. Tempe Gorge. Brallos Pass. Crete 1941 Retimo. Heraklion. Syria 1941 Damascus - Dimas. Damour. Papua 1942 Templeton's Crossing. Eora Creek. Oivi - Gorari. Sanananda Road. New Guinea 1944–45 Nambut Ridge. But - Dagua. Hawain River. Wewak.
