Description / Background

The memorial is a 220 foot (67 metres) brick and iron fence, featuring a central brick-arch gateway. On the left and right sides of the arch are two bronze plaques in the shape of wreaths, bearing the inscriptions. The words 'Lest we forget' are also attached to the brickwork at the top of the arch. The memorial was constructed by funds raised by the Glen Innes High School Parents and Citizens Association and community members.

At the opening ceremony it was stated the memorial was the second memorial in NSW for the Second World War. It was dedicated by Reverend Hannaford and opened by Colonel M.F. Bruxner.
