Kentucky Memorial Hall and Gates Middle Image Image Image Image Image Image Image Image Image Image 0 / 0 - Prev Next Description / Background The war memorial is a large community hall constructed of timber and fibro walls with a gabled galvanised iron roof and an entrance porch at the front. On the front is a sign identifying the building as the 'Kentucky Memorial Hall, 1940'. It was dedicated on 7 June 1940. Within the grounds there are two brick gate supports with a capped concrete top, galvanised iron water pipe gates, and several attached plaques. The gates were originally constructed as a memorial for the First World War, bearing the dates 1914 and 1918. They were once located in a small reserve at the corner of Kentucky Road and Noalimba Avenue, Kentucky, having been dedicated on 25 April 1934. Later on, two plaques were attached to the gates as part of the 'Australia Remembers 1945-1995' campaign for the 50th anniversary of the end of the Second World War.
